Watercress Pesto Triumphs at the Food Oscars!
6th August 2008Cresson Creative is celebrating after winning a prestigious food award!
We’ve been presented with a prestigious ‘Gold’ Star in the National Great Taste Awards 2008 for the Watercress Pesto product.
The Great Taste Awards, organised by the Guild of Fine Food, are often referred to as the ‘Oscars of the food industry’, and their mark is regarded as the authoritative, independent standard for Britain’s fine food sector. Watercress Pesto battled against fine foods from across the country in an effort to gain the award.
Managing Director and Head Chef Jennifer Laing said: “I am absolutely delighted to receive this recognition. The customers I meet at food markets across Hampshire have always told me how much they love our Watercress Pesto, but it’s great to know that the national fine food experts agree! Although lots of people who like the product have recommended it to their friends, this Award will give many others the incentive to try some of Central Hampshire’s finest and freshest produce”.
Watercress Pesto was blind tasted by at least three teams of experts to reach the ‘Gold’ standard, which included the farmer, journalist and bass player from Blur Alex James, Chef Mark Hix, Evening Standard food critic Charles Campion, Tom Parker-Bowles and food journalist Fiona Sims.
Bob Farrand of the Guild of Fine Food, said: “These awards have been running for 15 years now and are a recognised mark of excellence that consumers can trust and rely on.”
